What this program is designed to do
Hand osteoarthritis is rarely a “more cream” problem.
It is usually a steering problem.
The HAND Program is designed to turn scattered care into a clean sequence:
Calm the flare → protect the joint → rebuild pinch and grip → decide clearly
This program may fit you if
- The thumb base hurts with key pinch or bottle opening
- Finger joints flare repeatedly
- You wear a splint but strength is not returning
- You want to delay or better qualify surgery
- You want a structured plan instead of isolated appointments
Who this program is for — and not for
This is not the right pathway for:
– acute hot joints with infection or crystal suspicion
– strong inflammatory-systemic patterns
– dominant tendon or nerve entrapment
– trauma with instability or deformity
What this program is — and what it is not
HAND is a physician-led, time-limited program with clear modules, progression and
outcomes.
It is not:
– a device subscription
– random hand therapy without medical steering
– a passive package without function rules
How the program works
1) Medical indication check
- Pattern review
- Differential diagnosis
- Imaging or labs selectively
- Baseline outcomes and functional tasks
2) Intensive start cycle
- Flare control
- Orthosis strategy where appropriate
- Joint-protection rules
- Physician-led support modules selectively
- Start of targeted function rebuilding
3) Progression and decision
- Pinch and grip progression
- Relapse logic
- Escalation review when needed
What we measure
Primary:
– AUSCAN or PRWHE
Secondary:
– Pinch strength
– Grip strength
– VAS
– Functional tasks
– QuickDASH selectively
