From your first consultation to reimbursement by your health insurance and/or private insurer — here you will find everything about how treatment at RECURIO works and what you can expect from us. Every treatment begins with understanding your situation — not with a device or a protocol.

Step 1 — Initial Consultation & Medical History

Everything begins with an in-depth, time-unlimited conversation with Dr. Wolfgang Gruther. Your medical history, your symptoms, your previous diagnoses, and your goals form the foundation of every step that follows.

  • Comprehensive medical history — no time pressure

  • Review of your existing test results and reports

  • Initial clinical and neurological assessment

Step 2 — Targeted Diagnostics

Where your condition requires it, we supplement with specialised diagnostics. This does not mean more tests at any cost — it means the right tests for the right question.

  • Extended laboratory panel (inflammatory markers, micronutrient patterns, autoantibodies)

  • Imaging: MRI or ultrasound

  • Functional analyses: movement, strength, neurology

  • Where indicated, cooperation with specialist laboratories (IMD Berlin, Biovis, GANZIMMUN)

Step 3 — Individual Therapy Programme & Treatment Plan

Based on diagnostics and our conversation, we develop a therapy programme together with you — tailored to your specific condition, not to a standard protocol.

  • Evidence-based selection of therapeutic methods

  • Clear goals and realistic expectations

  • Integration into a comprehensive concept (physiotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle)

Step 4 — Treatment & Progress Monitoring

Treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis at our practice. Every session is medically supervised — by our nursing staff and by Dr. Gruther personally. What matters is not the device alone, but whether meaningful change is taking place over the course of treatment.

  • Highly specialised therapeutic methods (EMTT, Game Ready®, SpineMED®, INUSpherese®, infusion therapy)

  • Regular medical progress reviews

  • Adjustment of the plan as needed

Step 5 — Completion & Follow-Up Care

After the treatment series is complete, we discuss the outcome together, any further recommendations, and where appropriate, long-term measures to maintain your results. Our door remains open for any questions that arise.

Costs and Reimbursement

We are a Wahlordination — a private practice eligible for partial reimbursement through the Austrian public health insurance system. We are happy to assist you with the submission and reimbursement process.

What is a Wahlarzt?

A Wahlarzt (literally: “doctor of choice”) is a physician who treats both publicly insured and private patients. When you choose treatment with a Wahlarzt, you receive a detailed invoice for all services rendered.

How reimbursement works:

1. Receive your invoice
Your invoice from RECURIO contains a detailed listing of all medical services provided, including diagnosis, treatments carried out, costs, and all other relevant information.

2. Submit to your health insurer
You submit the invoice to your Austrian health insurance provider — for example the Österreichische Gesundheitskasse (ÖGK), BVAEB, or SVS. Submission can be made online, by post, or in person — either by us on your behalf, or directly by you.

3. Review by the insurer
Your health insurer carefully reviews the submitted invoice to confirm that the services provided are covered and that the fees correspond to applicable guidelines.

4. Reimbursement amount
Your insurer reimburses a portion of the costs incurred. The exact amount depends on several factors — the physician’s fee structure, the type of treatment, and the specific guidelines of your insurer. As a general rule, insurers reimburse a percentage of the equivalent public tariff, typically between 70% and 80%. Please note that the exact amount may vary.

5. Payment
Once the invoice has been reviewed and approved, the reimbursement amount is transferred directly to your bank account. This process typically takes a few weeks.

  • Documentation: Keep all invoices and relevant documents carefully. They are essential for the reimbursement submission and for any follow-up queries.

  • Supplementary insurance: Private or supplementary health insurance may cover additional costs. Please check with your insurer regarding the exact terms and benefits of any such coverage.

This system allows patients in Austria to access high-quality medical care and have a meaningful portion of the costs reimbursed by their health insurance.
