Dr. Heuberer specialises in the surgical and conservative treatment of degenerative and acute injuries of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the shoulder, elbow and knee. Wear and tear of joints and soft tissue as well as sports injuries can today be preserved and often restored using the latest techniques in regenerative medicine. Surgical interventions, through the introduction and advancement of arthroscopy and its reconstructive methods, allow rapid and efficient recovery. Joint replacement with modern endoprostheses also provides patients with a massive improvement in quality of life, including the possibility of sporting activity.
Dr. Heuberer completed his training at the internationally renowned Department of Shoulder and Sports Surgery under Prim. Dr. Anderl at the Barmherzige Schwestern Hospital in Vienna, where he actively built the research department and contributed to the development of innovative arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques. He subsequently completed the AOA-accredited Prince of Wales Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship in Sydney.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Heuberer teaches students at the Medical University of Vienna and regularly instructs colleagues in national and international courses on arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures. He publishes in international orthopaedic journals and lectures at national and international congresses. As an active board member of the German-speaking Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), Europe’s largest specialist society for arthroscopy, he remains at the forefront of the development, implementation and evaluation of arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques.
